Ready X has two escape mechanisms for 2FA-protected accounts. These are security mechanisms that can be used to remove 2FA or recover access to an account.
Remove 2FA
You can remove 2FA from your account if, for example:
- You no longer have access to the email address associated with your 2FA.
- You're unable to complete email verification.
To remove 2FA:
- Open Ready X.
- Go to Settings.
- Select your account name.
- Select Remove guardian and follow the on-screen instructions.
There is a 7-day security period before 2FA is removed.
Once completed, your account becomes a standard account and is no longer protected by email-based 2FA.
I didn't request 2FA removal
If you see a Guardian is being removed warning but didn't initiate it, someone may have access to your recovery phrase or private key.
You may also receive an email with the subject Escape guardian triggered.
Cancel the 2FA removal immediately:
- Open Ready X.
- Select the Guardian is being removed warning on the home screen.
- Select Keep 2FA.
- Confirm the transaction.
Contact Ready Support immediately at help@ready.co.
If you believe your recovery phrase or private key has been compromised, move your assets to a new wallet with a new recovery phrase.
Recover a 2FA-protected account
If you've lost your recovery phrase but your account is protected with email-based 2FA, you may still be able to recover your account.
Contact Ready Support at help@ready.co to start the recovery process.
There is a 7-day security period before the account recovery can be completed.
I regained access during recovery
If you regain access to your wallet while the recovery is still in progress, you can cancel the recovery.
Open Ready X and select Cancel key change when you see the recovery warning.
If you still control your original recovery phrase, cancel the recovery to prevent the account key from being changed.
