A 2FA-protected account uses email-based two-factor authentication (2FA) to add an extra layer of security to your Ready X account.
With 2FA enabled:
- Important actions require verification through your email. This helps protect your assets even if your recovery phrase is compromised.
- If you lose your recovery phrase, you may still be able to recover your account through Ready's account recovery process.
How do I enable 2FA for an existing standard account?
- Open Settings.
- Under the account name, find Smart account is not activated and click on it.
- Enter the email address you want to use and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you already have a 2FA on any of the accounts in the same wallet you will not be asked to enter the email, the existing email tied to other accounts in your wallet will be used:

You can't enable 2FA for:
- Multisig accounts
- Ledger accounts
- Accounts imported via private key
- View-only accounts.
Choosing an email address
Make sure you use a secure email address that you can reliably access.
Do not use:
- Temporary email addresses.
- Catch-all email addresses.
- Shared email addresses.
Your email is an important part of your account security and may be required to approve actions or recover access to your account.
